Woman killed, another flown to hospital following crash in northern Idaho

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
The Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday at 11:04 p.m. in the 2000 block of Lovell Valley Road in Benewah County.
A gray 2018 Toyota Highlander with two occupants was initially traveling westbound on Lovell Valley Road. The vehicle drove off the roadway, crashed into a ditch, rolled, and came to rest in a treed area.
Upon arrival, a 44-year-old female of Omak, Washington, was found to be deceased. The other occupant, a 31-year-old female of Plummer, managed to contact a local homeowner who then called emergency services. The surviving occupant was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance for treatment.
Next of kin has been notified. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, and both occupants were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Lovell Valley Road was blocked for approximately 3 hours while responders worked on the scene. The crash has since been cleared and the roadway reopened.
This incident remains under investigation.
Assisting agencies included the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police Department, Benewah County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Plummer Ambulance, Plummer Fire, and Life Flight Network.
