SHELLEY — A fire broke out in a residence in Shelley on Sunday night, causing the building to collapse and burn to the ground.

According to Shelley-Firth Fire District Chief Randy Adams, the fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. at 758 East 1550 North, off Woodville Road in Bingham County.

According to the homeowner, the fire occurred in a building that was being converted into a home.

The fire was put out within 40 minutes, and Adams says firefighters battled the high winds throughout the process, but the building was a total loss.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire and will be investigating the circumstances on Monday afternoon.
