Allan Steele, Author at East Idaho News

Allan Steele

Allan is an award-winning sports writer who has spent nearly three decades covering everything in the wide world of sports, from local youth sports to major colleges to professional sports.

Allan joined East Idaho News in August 2024 to help launch the site’s new sports page.

Not many people can say they landed in their dream profession, but after graduating from Cal State Northridge, Allan spent three years at the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello before heading "home" and working at the Press Enterprise in Southern California.

It was an eventful 18 years, highlighted by coverage of the MLB and NFL playoffs, plus college games at the Rose Bowl, Coliseum and Pauley Pavilion. He covered NCAA tournament games for men’s and women’s basketball, and even a couple WNBA championship runs.

Allan returned to Idaho in 2019 as Post Register sports editor.

He’s won several Idaho Press Club awards for sports writing while at the Post Register and looks forward to adding more as the East Idaho News site continues to grow.

When he's not covering sports, Allan is watching them as a hardcore Dodgers, Lakers and Rams fan, with a passion for all things involving the Oregon Ducks. Quack!
