Did you know that millions of families are affected by breast cancer every year? With Breast Cancer Awareness Month in full swing, it’s the perfect time for a quick reminder about women’s health and the importance of cancer screenings!

Now is the perfect time to schedule your yearly mammogram. Why? Because early detection saves lives! Regular screenings—whether it’s mammograms, clinical breast exams, or self-exams—help catch cancer early when it’s easier to treat.

And guess what? Prevention starts with healthy living! So let’s break it down from A to X!

A: Apples & everything healthy

Yep! Load up on apples, broccoli, whole grains, and fish. A good, low-fat diet can help you out big time. Experts say eating healthy, staying active, and keeping a normal weight could lower cancer risk by 30-40%!

B: Butt out, cigarettes!

Whether it’s smoking yourself or secondhand smoke, the link to cancer is no joke. Need help quitting? Chat with your doc to find what works best for you!

Okay, real talk—keeping that booty in check is important too! Obesity raises the risk of breast cancer, especially after menopause. Get moving and work with your doc to keep things in balance.

C: Chardonnay?

We know some people love a glass of wine, but moderation is key. Keep it light—just one or two drinks a day can up your risk.

D: Doctor, doctor!

The American Cancer Society recommends regular breast exams. Between ages 20-39, every three years. At 40+, make it an annual thing! It’s a good time to discuss your risk factors with your doctor.

H: Hike it out!

Who knew walking could do so much? A 30-minute brisk walk can reduce your cancer risk. Don’t like walking? No worries—any form of exercise will help!

M: Mammogram time!

A mammogram is your best friend! This screening can reduce breast cancer mortality by up to 25%. It’s a little uncomfortable, but totally worth it!

S: Self-exams—optional but smart

Self-exams aren’t mandatory, but hey, it’s always good to be in tune with your body. If something feels off, let your doctor know ASAP!

X: X-ray (aka mammogram!)

Yup, it’s a type of X-ray. Schedule yours for the week after your period to reduce discomfort. Oh, and skip the deodorant, powder, and lotion that day—it can mess with the results!
