Annette Lundquist

Karen Annette Armstrong Lundquist was born March 28, 1931, to Melvin and Golda Armstrong in Rexburg, Idaho. She passed away November 20, 2022, in Idaho Falls.

In her dad’s words, he wrote, “We were very happy living in Rexburg but we were even happier at the birth of our 1st baby. She was a beautiful baby weighing over 8 pounds, plump, strong, and healthy. She looked so much like Golda that I was elated.”

Annette lived in Rexburg for two years and then the depression hit.

The family lost everything, and they moved to Idaho Falls. They lived in a log house which she thought of as their little cozy cottage.

After graduating from high school, Annette attended Ricks College. She met a handsome young man who had returned from military service and then a mission to Sweden. His name was Kenneth Boyce Lundquist. She and Kenny were married July 26, 1950, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with 7 children, 38 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Annette had learned the value of hard work. She was a master at bread making and sewing most all the clothes. She gardened, preserved it, and always had raspberry jam on hand. She loved huckleberries. One huckleberry picking day didn’t turn out so well though, as she had found a huge swarm of bees, and they were not happy with her. Kenny came running to her rescue, but by the time they got out of there, they were both covered in bee stings. Those huckleberries came at a high price!

Annette was also a wonderful quilter. She began making Levi quilts for her grandkids. They were so thrilled, and they kept track of when it would be their turn to get a quilt.

Both Kenny and Annette held many callings in the church. This was a lot of time away from family, and they left the older kids in charge of the household. She would learn later that there were some interesting babysitting techniques, such as putting David on top of the fridge so he couldn’t go anywhere!

Annette served a mission in Salt Lake City at the Family History Center. She had a great love of genealogy and was very involved in the work. She has compiled many binders full of family history.

After 29 years of marriage, Annette lost her beloved Kenny in a farming accident on September 26, 1979. This would not be the only hard trial she would face in her 91 years, but through them all, she remained faithful and true to her testimony of our Savior and our Heavenly Father’s Plan. We could picture the glorious reunion, and much joy as she again joined Kenny, Karen, Julie, Denice, her parents, and so many others.

Annette is survived by her sons, Mark, Bruce (Becky), David (Coleen), Kent (Judy), Jack (Tiffany); son-in-law, Ray Bingham; her cousin, Tom Jephson (Michelle); her siblings, Cheryl (Gary), Beverly (Bo), Brent (Gloria), Kathy (Jerry); and sister-in-law, Sparky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her daughters, Karen and Julie; daughter-in-law, Denise; her parents, Melvin and Golda Armstrong; and brother, Blair Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Palisades Ward, 3109 Swan Valley Hwy. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
