Our beloved Anona Mathis, 81, passed away on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at Temple View Living Center in Rexburg, Idaho.

Anona was born on December 4, 1942 in Moore, Idaho to Howard and Rula Bingham, 3rd eldest of 9 children. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, 1 brother (Duane), her husband (Dave), 2 sons (Jeff and Mike), 1 grandson (Michael), and 1 great grandson (Phoenix). She is survived by 1 son (David), 6 grandchildren (Stephanie, Katie, Dustin, KC, Aaron, and Allen), several great-grandchildren, and 7 siblings (Lee, Faye, Max, Sue, Joy, Julie, and Alvah).

Anona attended school in Moore and Arco, Idaho. She married Dave Mathis and together raised their 3 boys. Dave’s job took them to several locations throughout Idaho, California and Wyoming. Dave and her settled in Mackay, Idaho until his passing in 1995. She worked in the restaurant industry where she became a friendly and familiar face. She spent the last 10+ years living in Blackfoot, Idaho close to her only living son and grandchildren. Anona loved her children, especially spoiling all her grandchildren.

All who knew Anona recognized that she was a very selfless person, and would give those in need anything she had even if it meant she would go without. She thoroughly enjoyed company and visiting with her family. Many late nights were spent around the kitchen table visiting and playing pinochle. Anona will be remembered for her fiery spirit, her honesty, and her infectious laugh. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We love you, Nonie.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those

who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
