Austin Arthur Clements

Austin Arthur Clements, age 76, of Rigby, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Austin was born December 12, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was raised by loving parents, Sterling Roth and Gwendolyn Agnes Jones Clements. He attended schools n Bonneville, County attending Lincoln Grade School and then Bonneville High School.

He married Ruth Arlene Lott November 16, 1968 in Annis Idaho.

Austin worked at U & I Sugar in Lincoln, Idaho and when it closed its doors, he opened a small engine repair business, Austin Sales and Service in Rigby. The opportunity came to move to Star Valley Wyoming where he built a Cogeneration Plant. A year later, they moved to Rigby where he worked for Basic American Foods in Rexburg until his retirement at age 62, still wanting something to do he started transporting cars for Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet.

Austin loved the Blackfoot fair attending every year since he was married and volunteering for many years driving the Trolley. He served with the Boy Scouts of America for many years as a Cub Master, Scout Master Eagle Board Chairman and on District Committees.

His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy enjoying as a family; camping, fishing, hunting, being in the outdoors, riding horses, boating, water skiing, Christmas tree hunting and going for rides in the car.

Survivors include his wife Ruth of Rigby, his children, Lori Moore of Rexburg, Doil (Dawn) Clements of Ucon, Blain (Susan) Clements of Grace, Idaho Glenda (Mark) Stoddard of Pocatello, four sisters; Gloria Wilson of Iona, Priscilla Thatcher of Price, Utah, Marilyn Hansen of Shelley, Idaho, and Katherine Webster of Rexburg, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with three on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roger.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ririe Stake Center 14061 North 130th East, Ririe, Idaho 83443. The family will visit with friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho 83442, on Wednesday, July 17th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
