Barbara Joyce Robison
July 6th, 1941 - November 13th, 2024
Barbara Joyce Cherry Robison, age 83, of LaBelle, Idaho, died at her home on the morning of Thursday, November, 13, 2024 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Joyce was born July 6, 1941 in Rigby to Leo & Beth Cherry. She attended schools in Rigby and graduating from Rigby High School. Following High School she worked at a Credit Union in Idaho Falls. On January 15, 1962, she married Burdett “Tom” Young Robison in the Idaho Falls L.D.S Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many callings throughout the years both in the LaBelle 1st Ward, and in the Rock Island, Illinois Ward. In 1994 she moved to Virginia with Tom where he worked for eighteen months. She and Tom then moved to Moline, Illinois for Tom’s work. In 1998 Joyce and Tom moved back to Rigby and retired in 1999, after Tom suffered a stroke. Joyce stood by Tom as his caregiver and loving companion until his passing on July 5th, 2007.
Joyce enjoyed being an active member of the DUP (Daughters of the Utah Pioneers) where she did extensive research into her family’s history.
She was very involved in music throughout her life, playing the piano and organ as well as directing several church choirs and singing at many events, including countless funerals. She was known for keeping a meticulous house and yard, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by three sons, Jody C. (Mindy) Robison of LaBelle, Darin L. (Whitney) Robison of LaBelle, Heath B. (Jessica) Robison of Boise, one daughter, Nancy (Andrew) Burke of Melba, one sister, Norma Jean (Phillip) Hawkins of Boise, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents- Leo & Beth Cherry, sisters Nila Briggs and Kay Freeman, and brother Rex Cherry.
Funeral services will be held at Eckersell’s Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID), Monday, November 18, 2024 at 2:30 pm. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and again on Monday from 1:00 to 2:15 pm at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Following the funeral, burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
