Barbara Smith Gibbs passed away surrounded by her children on August 5th, 2024, at the age of 87. Barbara was born May 16, 1937, in Wendell, Idaho. She was the younger of two children born to M Blair Smith and Vaunda Hawkes Smith.

She was raised in Wendell and graduated from Wendell High School in 1955. She then attended Twin Falls Business College, which provided her with great skills to help her with all her various Jobs throughout the years. She was highly organized and meticulous with finances and record keeping.

She met the love of her life, Gordon L. Gibbs, in the summer of 1957, and they married on October 17th, 1958, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They created a loving home and family for their four children.

Barbara was a beloved Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and a dedicated and loyal friend to many. She treasured her family and embraced every opportunity to spend time with them, supporting every aspect of their lives.

Barbara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. Her life was a living example of her love for the Savior. She lived a life of service and had unwavering Faith. Mom and Dad taught their children by example to love and accept people without judgment.

Barbara had many hobbies. She loved to quilt and make crafts, was a great seamstress and an amazing cook, loved to read, loved to shop, and spent time with friends and family.

Barbara is survived by her children: Renell (Mark) Hunter of Idaho Falls, Steven (Dede) Gibbs of Inkom, Jennifer (Barry) Kofford of Idaho Falls, JoEllen (Dan) Bramwell of Dubois, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L Gibbs, parents, M Blair and Vaunda Smith, son-in-law Bruce Roberts, and her only brother, Nathan (Mac) Smith, who passed away last week.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12th, at the Rexburg South Stake Center, 2041 W 5200 S Rexburg. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11th, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on August 12th prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be at the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho.
