Barbara “Judy” Black
March 31, 1938 – January 17, 2025
Judy Black, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at the age of 86 just as mean and onery as ever.
Judy was born on March 31, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho, where she spent her early life. She also lived in Idaho Falls where she raised her family and in the last few years of her life moved to Kuna, Idaho, creating cherished memories and lasting friendships in each community. On August 26, 1966, she married the love of her life, Howard Black, in Pocatello, Idaho. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, adventure, and shared dreams.
Judy had a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Registered Nurse, working with dedication at Parkview Hospital and EIRMC in Idaho Falls. Her firm and concise care left an indelible mark on her patients and colleagues alike.
In her personal life, Judy was known for her love of camping, baking, reading, watching Disney movies, and traveling. She and Howard shared a passion for adventure, and one of their most memorable trips was visiting Europe shortly after her retirement, fulfilling a lifelong dream to visit Ireland. She was also able to travel with both of her children to various places throughout the world.
Judy is survived by her children: David (Sheri) Black, Heidi (Doug) Manning, and stepson Pete (Ronda) Black and her Sister Annette Fisher. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Darin Black, Alasia (Seth) Thomas, Kelsie (Jacob) Rook, Andrew (Jordin) Black, Naomi Bacon (Black), Joseph Black, Kyle Manning, Daniele Black, and Sarah Black, as well as five great-grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Black; her parents, Howard and Jane Winn; and her siblings, Myrna Combe (Winn), Pat Justice (Winn), Frank Winn, and Paul Winn.
Judy’s kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held in Idaho Falls at a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the BrightFocus Foundation.
Our family would like to thank Swan Falls Assisted Living and Horizon Hospice for the care they gave Judy for the past few years
