Boyd J Zollinger, 83, of Idaho Falls, died January 31, 2024, of heart failure.

He was born July 17, 1940, in Rexburg, Idaho, at his grandparent’s home, to Vern and Ann Johanson Zollinger. He grew up in and attended schools in Island Park and Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School.

After high school he attended Rick’s College earning his associates degree in History.

He then served a 2 1/2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Düsseldorf, Germany.

After his mission, he attended BYU earning both a bachelors and masters degree in Psychology. As a student at BYU he was an avid member of BYU’s debate team and competed nationally. He was also an active member of Cougar Club and was always involved in student government.

During his time at BYU he met Diane Call of Idaho Falls. They were married June 15, 1968, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to New York City where Boyd completed his Masters of Business Administration at Columbia University. In 1969, they returned to Idaho Falls where he took over the management and ownership of Yellowstone Leather Products.

He was active in community affairs including Rotary Club, United Way where he served as president and campaign chairman, Junior Achievement, and as a member of the LDS Hospital Board.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years he served in many church callings. The one that was dearest to his heart was stake patriarch.

He enjoyed reading, BYU sports, and riding horses. His great loves were his family, business, and spending time at the family ranch in Island Park.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane, six children and their spouses, Leslie Polson (Preston) of Castle Rock, CO, Christian Zollinger (Helen) of Idaho Falls, ID, Richard Zollinger (Jerusha) of Saratoga Springs, UT, Jennifer Terry (Mark) of Rapid City, SD, Melissa Rowan (Bradley) of Union, KY, Allyson Mann (Daren) of Santa Barbara, CA; 25 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; and his sister VeAnn Nelson (John) of Pahrump, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gordon and Brent “Wink”.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Home Ranch Ward, 2051 Emerson, with Bishop Jeff Westfall officiating. The family will meet with friends Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior. Both visitations will be at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
