Boyd Whitmill Brown, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 16, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of his family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Boyd was born July 28, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Torvel Alfred Buttcane and Ina Whitmill Brown. He grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot, Idaho, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1955. He also attended Utah State University and earned his Associate Degree in electronics from Idaho State University in 1958.

On June 24, 1958, he married Beverley Ann Montague in Blackfoot. Boyd and Beverley made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Boyd worked as a Nondestructive Testing Engineer at the INL. He retired in 1993.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a lifetime member of the Elks, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and was inducted as a Fellow in the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). He worked as a photographer in high school, and continued to enjoy photography throughout his life. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, camping, fishing, and spending time with family. He built his own family cabin and built their first color TV. After retirement, he and Beverley spent their winters in San Diego, California, and summers in Idaho Falls and Island Park at their family cabin.

Boyd is survived by his sons, Kevin (Denise) Brown and Scott (Connie) Brown, both of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Vicky Riggs of Providence, UT; 4 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverley Brown; and brothers, Robert Buttcane and Wayne Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
