Brett Potter
March 17th, 1966 - September 4th, 2022
Brett Wayne Potter, 56, was born March 17, 1966, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Wayne Douglas Potter and Pamela Mae Murdock Tomita. Brett died September 4, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Brett’s home was in Idaho Falls, ID but he moved to Snoqualmie, WA in 1978 where he attended MT Si High School and later returned to Idaho Falls.
He met Karin Shepard, the love of his life, in Idaho Falls and they had been together for many years. They had no children together, but Brett loved Karin’s three children: Jazzmynn, Lucas, and Frankie as though they were his own.
Brett was a beloved and cherished son, brother, companion, stepdad, granddad, and friend to many.
He was an avid outdoorsman and found his peace and joy in fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles.
Brett worked in the construction and painting trade. He traveled with his work from Idaho to Seattle, Iowa, Quam, and many other places. He was an excellent and sought-after tradesman.
Brett had a heart of gold and was always there to help and encourage others. He was usually the life of the party and enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was a joy to be around and always left you feeling special. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved life.
He is survived by his mother, Pamela Tomita of Idaho Falls; father, Wayne Potter of Lava Hot Springs; sister, Angela Potter of Idaho Falls; half-sister, Karin Warner of Riverton, Utah; life companion, Karin Shepard; stepchildren: Frankie, Lucas, and Jazzmynn (Zac) Jacobson; step-grandchildren: Zakk and Hannah all of Idaho Falls.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rex and Ilene Murdock and Fred and Fern Potter; and his brother, Michael Troy Potter.
Brett is now at peace and reunited with his friends and family members that have passed before him. His favorite little dog Shatner is once again by his side.
We mourn our loss, but we will always celebrate his life. Brett will be dearly missed until we meet again.
There will be a celebration of life with family and friends. No date has been set at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmotuary.com.
