Bruce Michael Brunt (Mike), 70, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away July 24, 2024, at Life Care Center, where he resided since September 2022.

He was born November 6, 1953, in Idaho Falls, where he lived all his life, outside of attending Ricks College, in Rexburg, Idaho.

Mike met his future wife, Christy, at a young adult dance which he was asked to provide music for. Instead of payment, he mentioned all he wanted was a date. That night he told his dad that Christy was ‘the one.’ This was the middle of December 1977. He proposed on New Year’s Eve, and they were married the following June in the Idaho Falls Temple.

In 1980 a son, Stephen Kent, was born. As an only child, he was spoiled with love and attention. In later life, the tables turned as he lovingly took his parents on most of his vacations and trips to the mountains. Mike loved camping, the outdoors, and riding ATVs with Stephen. They attended as many events as possible for all the nieces and nephews and were able to travel to many temple open houses, which meant so much to Mike.

Music was an integral part of Mike’s life. Although not proficient on any instrument he loved listening, collecting vinyl records, tapes, and CDs, and attending concerts of most genres. He particularly loved the organ, Music, and the Spoken Word, and enjoyed following the progress of the Ruffati Organ installation at Ricks College. Whenever able, he thrilled at private concerts (or practice sessions) by those he knew and loved.

In his later years, Mike enjoyed volunteering at the local soup kitchen, the Idaho Falls rescue mission, and the Snake River animal shelter. The friends he met and worked with, and the animals he cared for enriched his life and gave him purpose.

Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Primary teacher, home teacher, and in a Sunday School Presidency.

He is survived by his wife Christy of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters and one brother: Kalli (Charlie) Paxton of West Jordan, Utah, Jana (Alan) Pyle of Phoenix, Arizona, and Chris (Heather) Brunt of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen, and his parents Steve and Vonda Brunt.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024, in the Cloverdale LDS church, 1040 N. Crimson, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Christy wishes to extend her deep gratitude to everyone at Life Care Center and Enhabit Hospice for the many months of tender care they gave to Mike.
