Bruce Wheeler
July 1st, 1926 - May 23rd, 2023
Bruce Arnold Wheeler, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 23, 2023. Bruce was under the care of Inhabit Hospice and his loving family. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his children.
Bruce was born July 1, 1926, in Moreland, ID, to Jacob Archie Wheeler and Bessie Elizabeth Ellis Wheeler. He was the 7th child of 10 in the family. Bruce met a young lady while living in Mackay, by the name of Mary Nogues. They married June 3, 1949, in the Idaho Falls Temple and moved to Idaho Falls, in the early 1950s. Bruce and Mary had 5 children; son, Daniel A. (Ramona) Wheeler of Anderson Island, WA; son, Randall (Teresa) Wheeler of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Deanna (Jay B.) Smith of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Donna Jean Gaskill of Mackay, ID; daughter, Kathy (David) Fair of Midvale, UT; 19 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Bruce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings including the Elders Quorum presidency, youth leader, and bishopric counselor. He and his wife served a mission to the Chicago Temple in 1994.
Bruce had many skills. He could fix almost anything he put his mind to. He tied the best little white flies for fishing at Palisades dam.
He had a lot of friends and he enjoyed doing a lot of different activities, especially snow machining with his friends in the winter, fishing in the summer and traveling with his wife and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maud Wheeler; and his parents, Jacob and Bessie Wheeler.
Services to honor Bruce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Alan Harrison officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
