Carol M Cleveland passed away in her home surrounded by family on June 22, 2024 at the age of 81.

Carol was born in Chicago (Oak Lawn) Illinois on September 6, 1942. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago where she met and then married her true love, Clinton J Cleveland on October 5th, 1963. As an Air Force family, there were several moves in their early married life. Upon Clint’s discharge from military service in 1972 from his final station in Las Vegas (Nellis), Carol and family moved and settled in Idaho Falls. Clint and Carol were happily married 26 years when he passed away suddenly in 1989.

Carol spent her entire career as an elementary school educator. She taught for several years at Holy Rosary Catholic School and then almost 20 years at Hawthorne Elementary from where she ultimately retired.

Upon retiring, Carol moved to Boise to be close to family. She spent her last few years in Arkansas, also close to family.

Carol was an avid reader and would always be found with an open book (or two, or three) close by. She loved her school summer vacations and weekends that were filled with friends and family. She loved camping, boating and fishing (more accurately holding a fishing pole while reading). For the last 25 plus years, Carol enjoyed comfortable companionship with her loving friend Harvey Larsen. Together they created new memories and went on many grand adventures; going on cruises, beach vacations, music festivals and more. They were each other’s greatest supporters.

Carol is survived by sons Timothy (Shirley) Cleveland of Boise ID, Patrick (Penny) Cleveland of Pine Bluff AR, her brother Anthony (Christine) Chap of Bismarck ND and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Eleanor Chap, her sister Antionette Burke, her husband Clinton Cleveland and her friend Harvey Larsen.

A private graveside service will be held on September 6th at Fielding Memorial.
