Charles LaVere Hope, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at his home.

LaVere was born on March 22, 1938, to Clarence Dewey Hope and Zella Keppner Hope in Rexburg, Idaho. He grew up in the Burton/Rexburg area. He joined the Army Reserves.

On June 3, 1960, he married Kaye Bowden in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Darlington, Burley, and Idaho Falls, always staying in Idaho. He was a farmer and worked at U&I Sugar Factory and Reeds Dairy delivering milk. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Sunday School President and as a Temple worker.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, basketball, woodworking, and riding horses. LaVere was a grateful, kind, and spiritual man.

He is survived by his sons: Gregory (Denise) Hope of Ucon, Idaho, Ryan Hope of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Kevin (Lori) Hope of Richland, Washington; his daughters: Marilee (Tony) Meline of Iona, Idaho, Susan Elliott of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Cheryl (Travis) Packer of Ucon, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye Hope; his parents: Clarence Dewey Hope and Zella Keppner Hope; Rozella (Chuck) McHenry, Laura Huffaker, Marie (Clyde) Huffaker, Lennis (Verla) Hope, LeRoy (Maxine) Hope, Eldon (Joan) Hope, Sylverus (Paula) Hope, Lauris Hope, and Darrell (Donna) Hope.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Lincoln 2nd Ward, 3700 E. Lincoln Road. The family will meet with family and friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
