Obituary
Cody Joseph Storer
December 23rd, 1973 - March 6th, 2022
Cody Joseph Storer, 48, of Idaho Falls, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2022, at his home of natural causes, peacefully in his sleep.
Cody is joined in heaven by his best friend and faithful companion, his black lab Brody Joe, who crossed over the rainbow bridge on March 8, 2022, due to terminal cancer.
Cody rushed into this life three weeks early on December 23, 1973, born to Richard Max Storer and Valerie Margene (Miller) Storer. He grew up in Idaho Falls and Pocatello and attended Idaho Falls High School.
He came crashing into the world on a mission to Live Big, Live Fast, and Ride Hard and he left far too soon. Cody lived life on his own terms and by his own rules. He jammed over a hundred years of experiences into his 48 years and typically had everyone on the run just to keep up.
Cody was drawn to many sports as a youth. He played football, wrestling, and baseball. He excelled as a wrestler early on and won three freestyle State Championships. He qualified and competed in 2 National tournaments. He participated with US Olympic wrestler, Tim Vanni, in two wrestling clinics and videos. He had the opportunity to spend time and travel with the US Olympic Wrestling Team. Just after high school, he discovered a new love in bull riding and bull-fighting and enjoyed competing and traveling around the rodeo scene for several years.
He married Paula Webb and was later divorced. He married Darcy Carlson and was later divorced.
Cody was a jack of all trades. He lived on Maui and picked pineapples, rode horses and helped train racehorses, spent a summer tending sheep, drove big rigs in the oil fields, worked various construction jobs, operated heavy equipment, bussed tables, and even lived and worked as the caretaker of exotic animals. His biggest passions were music, Harley Davidson’s, and the ladies. His handsome good looks and his bigger-than-life personality always had him at the center of attention. There was hardly a person Cody didn’t know. Nearly everyone he met became a friend and some were lucky enough to become a part of his huge, self-made, extended family.
His passion for music led him to meet many great people. He played the guitar and drums and absolutely loved to sing. He auditioned for The Voice on several occasions and at his last audition, he was thrilled to advance further than previous times. He loved any opportunity he had to play and sing with friends or other music enthusiasts. He spent countless hours recording songs on the Smule app and loved to share them on youtube and with friends and family. Music filled his heart and soul with pure joy.
Cody has three daughters, three granddaughters, and one on the way. He loved his daughters with all his heart and always wanted the best for them and from them. His love was sometimes the hard kind that stung a little, but he could always see their best potential and wanted them to choose the best path.
As bright as Cody’s light burned, there were some dark times. But Cody was a warrior and always stayed hard in the fight. He overcame many hardships, even as the wave of hits seemed to go on without end. Cody was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and although he wasn’t big on religion, he was a spiritual giant. If you truly knew Cody, you knew his immense belief in God and Jesus Christ and likely heard him speak of their power.
To know Cody was to know him. He had a spark that lit a fire in the lives of nearly everyone he encountered. The fires he lit will burn bright in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his father, Rick (Brenda) Storer of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his mother, Valerie (Joel) Balmforth of Shelley, Idaho; his daughter, Dakota Storer of American Fork, Utah; his daughter, Lexi (Riggen) Garcia of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his daughter, Lyxie Buhler of Seely, Montana; his sister, Laura Waters of Rigby, Idaho; his sister, Kami (Marciano) Perez of Rigby, Idaho; his sister, Jennifer (Shaunie) Saunders of Ammon, Idaho; his brother, Brandon (Nicole) Storer of Ririe, Idaho; his sister, Amber (Travis) Beck of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his brother, C.
