The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Craig LaVon Storer, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on May 21, 2024, after a long and valiant battle with lung disease. He was under the care of Dr. Scott Taylor with Hospice of Eastern Idaho and his nurse Patricia.

Craig was born on November 12, 1952, in Rigby, Idaho, to Dell LaVon Storer and Edna Mann Storer. He was born on their 5th wedding anniversary and was their greatest anniversary present. He was also the only son and had five sisters. Because of this, he swears he only wore dresses until he went to school.

He attended elementary school in Ririe, Idaho, and at Bonneville High School before serving in the Army from 1969-1972 in Germany during the Vietnam Era. After serving in the Army, he worked in Wyoming and then back in Idaho driving truck.

In 1975, Craig met the love of his life, Joy Ann Bohney. They were married November 6, 1976. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jessica Ann and Christi Lee. He loved them and spoiled them rotten.

Craig worked for HK Contractors from March 1980, until he retired in March 2014. He started at the back of a shovel and ended his career as a superintendent. He worked hard and received numerous awards including an award from the U.S. Department Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and Western Federal Lands Highway Division for Smoothest Paving Project in 1998.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife and The Premier Club all over the world. They visited Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Panama Canal, Alaska, and many other places. He loved to take his kids and grandkids on vacation as well. As a family, they went to Hawaii, Costa Rica and Cancun.

They bought his “Happy Place” the Bouse house in 2006 in Bouse, Arizona, to enjoy during their retirement. This is where he spent his winters and made lifelong friends.

Craig enjoyed Harley’s and shared that love with his sons-in-law. He also loved going razor riding, both here in the hills, and also in Arizona. He always wore a red shirt on Fridays to show support for military personnel. He loved to take his grandkids shooting and fishing. Many great memories were made doing all of the things he loved.

Craig is survived by his wife, Joy Storer of Ucon, ID; daughter, Jessica (Josh) Jacobsen and his “darlin” granddaughters, Rylee Ann and Paige Lynn of Ucon, ID; daughter, Christi (Tyson) Smith and his grandsons “the boys,” Logan Tyson, Kason Craig, and Corbin Michael of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Ginny (Gary) McKay of Layton, UT; sister, Peggy (Dave) Rockwood of Rigby, ID; sister, Vicki (Wade) Anderson of Rexburg, ID; Kelly (Billy) McFarland of Brigham City, UT; and Margaret Storer Smout of Layton. UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents LaVon and Edna Storer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Idaho’s only full service non-profit hospice, or taking a friend or family member to make some memories.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Ucon Monument Ward, 10854 North 41 East. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery with military honors.
