Dahrl Petersen Humpherys of Ririe, Idaho, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, at around 4:30 in the afternoon at Sage Grove Assisted Living. Even with her famous sweet tooth, Dahrl lived an extraordinary 100 years and 222 days. She remained intelligent and strong until the very end.

Dahrl Petersen was born on December 30, 1923, to Bertie Petersen and Clara Josephine Kruse in Firth, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith Owen Humpherys, whom she married on August 26, 1945. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple in 1964. They were able to enjoy 69 years of marriage- an amazing feat! Together, they raised three children: Debra, Diane, and Kurtis. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, all but two of whom survive her.

Dahrl’s work ethic was unparalleled, and she took pride in being a career woman at a time when it was uncommon. After graduating from Blackfoot High School, she pursued business classes at Brigham Young University for a year. Dahrl was an excellent typist, meticulous with finances, and possessed an incredible memory. She worked as a clerk at the Bingham County

Courthouse and at the U and I Sugar Factory, where she knew every employee by name. She and Keith owned the roller skating rink in Ririe, bringing joy to the community. Even while working full-time, Dahrl took great care of her mother in her final years. She concluded her career working in payroll at Ricks College until her retirement.

Dahrl and Keith then served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples for two decades. They also served a mission at the Chicago Illinois Temple from 1994 to 1995.

Dahrl was always proud of her unique name, even though it was often mispronounced (it rhymes with Carl). Dahrl was fiercely loyal to her family, and they were the center to almost everything that she did. She built a legacy in her partnership with Keith, as being an involved and loving presence. As the matriarch of this amazing family, she attended countless sporting events and performances and did much more to support her grandchildren. Keith and Dahrl were avid travelers and were up for any adventure. She cherished her friends, and kept an enormous collection of newspaper clippings documenting the accomplishments of those she loved. She was a direct descendant of Thomas Paulson Cloward, one of the 143 Latter-day Saint pioneers who first entered the Salt Lake Valley, and Dahrl was a lifelong and devoted member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, serving in many capacities within the organization, along with receiving a rare 60 year pin.

Dahrl was always very classy and elegant. She enjoyed getting her hair done. She always had a beautiful smile and liked to wear lipstick. As you can tell from her included picture on her 100th birthday, she aged wonderfully!

In addition to her husband, Dahrl was preceded in death by her mother, Clara; father, Bertie; and dear stepfather, Rolland Kluckhohn; two sisters, Arlene (who lived 100 years and 20 days) and Leora; and her brother, Lamar; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Debra (Kent) Sperry of Ririe, Diane (Jerry) Hopkins of Rigby, and Kurtis (Lisa) Humpherys of Idaho Falls; 12 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 17, at the Ririe LDS Stake Center at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held at the same location on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM and one hour before the service on Saturday.

We will miss the cherished time spent together with this elect lady, but we find joy knowing she will be able to spend her upcoming wedding anniversary with her eternal companion, Keith, together in heaven.
