On November 20, 2024 our world was shattered when our beloved Dalton passed away unexpectedly from septic shock.

Dalton Thomas Cate was born on December 25, 1995, in Denver, Colorado, to Randy and Jennifer. Shortly before his first birthday, the family moved to Firth, Idaho where he grew up.

Dalton loved everything about the outdoors – fishing, hunting, camping – everything but the cold Idaho winters. Dalton was a fierce competitor but a true sportsman. He loved football and baseball and was a great leader on and off the field, creating forever friendships with his teammates.

Dalton met the love of his life during his junior year of high school. Shortly after Tiera entered his life, he knew they would be together forever. Dalton and Tiera married on August 3, 2019 in the beautiful mountains of Idaho – God’s country, as Dalton would say. In June 2024, they welcomed their son, Desmond, and Dalton found a new calling he embraced and loved, being a dad.

Dalton’s love for his family and friends was constantly seen by those around him. He would do anything for anyone, helping in any way he could – taking over the hard things to ensure they got done. He was a true believer that if you’re going to do something, do it right the first time!

Dalton touched so many lives in so many ways. He was a straight shooter, a hard worker, a loving husband, a proud dad. Words cannot describe the grief his family, friends, and all who knew him are feeling. Dalton is probably with his uncle Kevin, grandpa Tim, and dog Benny, enjoying beers, fishing, shooting the bull, and an occasional shot of whiskey!

Dalton is survived by his wife, Tiera, their son, Desmond, and their dogs, Maxine and Harvey; his parents, Randy and Jennifer; his brother, Brodie, and his wife, Rylie; his aunts, Michelle and Rachel; his uncle, Ryan, and his wife, Stephanie; his grandparents, Al, Julie, Dave, and Marsha; his nephews, Kove, Toby, Cooper, Camden, and Ledger; his nieces, Hadley, Mavis, Vivien, Katherine, Raelynn, Remington, and Huntlee; and his amazing friends.

A celebration of Dalton’s life will be held in the summer of 2025.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
