Dean L. Myler, 72 of Mackay, Idaho died peacefully in his home on October 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Pocatello, Idaho to John and Vonda (Price) Myler. Dean was a brother to Gordon (Jackie), Don (Nancy), Steve (Karen), and Carol (Kevin Beebe). Dean married Kathie Lynette Olson on July 5, 1969, and together they raised 7 sons: Cary (Tirsa), Aaron (Sally), Darryl (Kristen), Jeff (Tracy), Wes (Ariela), Scott (April), and Kent.

Dean was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many different positions in the church over the years. Dad worked in many jobs during his life, including Simplot, INL, carpenter, contractor, and janitor before going to college in his late 30s to get a bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation. He then worked as a Facilities Manager for the Church for 18 years. After retirement, they moved back to Idaho where they

designed and built their own home near Mackay, Idaho and lived for 12 years where they celebrated

their 55th wedding anniversary. Dean and Kathie were best friends and together they raised 7 boys with the principals of love, hard work, service, and prayer.

Dean was accomplished at everything he tried, including photography, woodworking, athletics, gardening, inventions, catching mice and the list goes on. Dean could do anything that he put his mind to, and he did it all well. He took great joy in making things in his shop and giving them away. Dean was a disciple of Jesus Christ and shared his testimony of the atonement often. He had a gift of making friends with everyone that he met.

Dean and Kathie have 20 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Gordon, sons Darryl and Kent, and daughter in law Kristen.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 531 E. Spruce Street, Mackay, ID. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services at the church. A private family burial will be held following the luncheon at the church at the Chilly Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest doing as Dean would do, “Go Make a Friend”.
