Obituary
Dennis Bingham
October 17th, 1946 - October 27th, 2021
Dennis Norman Bingham, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed unexpectedly on October 27, 2021, his cherished wife by his side. He is loved and will be greatly missed.
Dennis was born October 17, 1946, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Norman Perry Bingham and Bernice Carolina Johnson Bingham. He grew up on a farm in the Ammon area where he learned to work hard and practice ingenuity when faced with problems. Following graduation from Bonneville High School, he went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While there, Dennis met and fell in love with Janice Boyer. On August 25, 1970, they were married and sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Janice was the love of Dennis’s life and he showed that every day by the way he treated her. For the last 51 years they were inseparable. Dennis and Janice will still be holding hands in the eternities, expressing their love for Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Following graduation at BYU, Dennis continued studies at Clemson University, South Carolina, where he earned his PhD in Bio Engineering . Dennis worked as a college professor at Union College (Schenectady, NY) and Texas A&M University (College Station, TX). As an engineer and inventor, he worked at White Sands Missile Range (New Mexico) and the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Dennis found great satisfaction and fulfillment using engineering tools to solve problems that benefit mankind and mitigate suffering.
Dennis was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young adult, he served a mission in Florida. He served faithfully in any calling he was given, and especially loved family history. Dennis always remembered to give thanks and be humble in the blessings he and his family received.
Dennis had a great mind and kind heart. He enjoyed anything involving engineering hobbies. He designed a water balloon launcher for his grandson, Sam, who has Cerebral Palsy. He was awarded thirty-six patents and was the recipient of two Research and Development 100 awards. He also enjoyed relaxing to the sounds of jazz music, savoring the taste of green hatch chilis, and learning about deep space. Dennis found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and in taking great care of his raspberry patch. He was very supportive and encouraged his children and grandchildren in their schooling, extracurricular activities, and hobbies.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Janice Bingham of Idaho Falls, ID; children Lisa (Matt) Romrell of Idaho Falls, ID, David (Sheila) Bingham of Idaho Falls, ID, Sharon (Ryan) Rowley of Kaysville, UT, and Karen (Travis) Green of Peoria, AZ; thirteen grandchildren Shauna, Jessica, Dallin, Erika, Lydia, Daniel, Sean, Darius, Rheya, Samuel, Jada, Afton, and Boston; and sister Keila (Dennis) Poulsen of Idaho Falls, ID.
