Diane Singleton
October 19th, 1943 - July 29th, 2023
Diane Zada Singleton, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 29, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital, due to poor health and complications after surgery. Diane passed away with her adoring husband of 57 years and many other loving family members by her side.
Diane was born October 19, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, as the third child of LaSell Hyrum Crook and Beulah Kearney Crook. She attended elementary school and O.E. Bell Junior High in Idaho Falls. She later graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1962, where she learned how to play the clarinet. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school and after, owned her own beauty shop and worked as a successful hairdresser for over 50 years.
On October 13, 1966, she married Larry Singleton in Idaho Falls. They were later sealed for all time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 25, 1992. Diane and Larry met in church during junior high and later became high school sweethearts. They spent their whole married lives in Idaho Falls, where they created a beautiful family.
Diane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Relief Society President and Young Women’s President. She had a strong love for the church and enjoyed going to girl’s camp with the young women. As an accomplished hairdresser, she received several cosmetology awards and served as the former president of the Idaho Falls Cosmetology Association. She organized and participated in many hair shows, and won several awards for her hard work and talent.
Diane had many hobbies, including reading, doing puzzles, playing games, collecting rocks, going camping with her family and reminiscing on her most cherished memories. The most important thing in the world to her was her family and spending time with her grandkids.
Diane is survived by her loving husband Larry Singleton of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bret Larry Singleton of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Wendee Diane (Kody) Christensen of Idaho Falls, ID; 9 grandchildren, Colby, Austen, Westen, Kortnee, Kynlee, Keaten, Kelcee, Kenny, and Kamree; and 3 great grandchildren, Brynley, Berkley and Erik. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Crook, sister, Beverly Crook Rhees, and grandson, Jake Douglas.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Boulevard Ward, 1235 Juniper Drive, with First Counselor Mike Kirkham officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Fielding Memorial Park, following the service.
Diane’s family would like to thank the IMC and ICU staff at Idaho Falls Community Hospital for their constant kindness and compassion to Diane and her family.
