Dianne B. Covington, 56, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at Temple View Transitional Care Center in Rexburg.

Dianne was born on a Sunday morning, August 25, 1968, in Rexburg, Idaho, to William (Ted) and Lula (Lu) Bird Berrett. The doctor thought he might have time to attend church before her delivery, but the nurse informed him that things were progressing nicely and that might not be a wise decision. As soon as she was born, Doctor Petersen said, “I’ve never seen so much hair on a baby in all my life. Her mom said,” It was fun taking her places and hearing people ooh and awe over what looked like a wig.

She grew up in the Coltman area, north of Idaho Falls, where she attended Fairview Elementary School and Bonneville Junior High School and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1986. She had a lot of fun playing with the neighborhood kids in her youth. However, she didn’t enjoy working in the large garden they grew, weeding (she always had to have her hair fixed and make-up done first), and canning the food they grew. Dianne was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1976 by her father, Ted. Between the ages of 12-14 years, she participated in the sewing and cooking 4-H programs. She also enjoyed participating in the Young Women’s sports programs in the church and serving in various callings. After graduating from high school, she worked at Lamont’s Apparel in Idaho Falls.

On June 26, 1987, she married Troy Don Covington in Idaho Falls. In 1996, along with their four children, Brady, Brittney, Brianna, and Braxtyn, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, which she described as “an amazing experience.”

She was a gifted artist; she also created wood crafts and made jewelry. She mostly spent her time as a stay-at-home mom with her children. She was one of 100 grandchildren on both the Bird and Berrett sides of the family, having 94 first cousins.

Dianne experienced multiple health problems over many years and was therefore limited in her ability to accomplish all she wanted.

She is survived by her husband, Troy Covington of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her parents, Ted and Lu Berrett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her father-in-law, Joseph Covington, and mother-in-law Charlotte (Dallas) Orchard; her children: Brady (Brooke) Covington of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brittney Covington (Austin Miller) of Shelley, Idaho, Brianna (Nate) Sarkela of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Braxtyn Covington of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her grandchildren: Sharlee, Garrett, Tegan, Karson, Kynzlie Kasyn, Addisyn, Myah, and Tyler; her brothers; Darin (Kayelyn) Berrett of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Nate (Jody) Berrett of Meridian, Idaho; her sisters: Suzette (Tom) Musgrave of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Regina (Jason) Hewlett of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Melisse (JD) Conrad of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Warren and Rozella Bird, and William T. and Harriette Berrett; her mother-in-law, Merry Covington; and her fur baby, Biscuit.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Thunder Ridge 2nd Ward, 4459 John Adams Parkway. A Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.coltrinmortuary.com.
