It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Emily Landon, age 22, of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Emily was born to Brad and Jana (Putnam) Landon in Rexburg, Idaho, on March 23, 2002. She was the youngest of three children by 16 years. She was the best surprise and a beautiful gift to her family. She brought a special light into their lives as a lively and intelligent child. She grew up in Osgood, Idaho, and attended Skyline High School.

When Emily was 9, she was thrilled to become an aunt. She adored her nieces and nephews and spent as much time with them as she could. Emily learned to play piano from her grandma Lova and played often for many church services and events. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she also had a talent for genealogy and found great joy and comfort in attending the temple. She was an exceptional student and played on the Skyline tennis team. She loved seminary and learning anything about science and space. She studied hard and was able to receive her realtor license not long after graduation.

In the fall of 2020, she started attending BYU-Idaho studying Computer Science. This chapter of her life gave her such a sense of independence and confidence. She was so excited to meet new people, live on her own, and made a lot of new friends. While living in Rexburg, she worked for FedEx and assisted in online classes for BYU-I.

Emily could have been born holding a book. She was an early reader and loved books. The Idaho Falls Public Library was her home away from home. She volunteered there during the summers and eventually worked at the library part-time while attending college. It was her favorite job being surrounded by books. Anywhere Emily was, her room, her car, her apartment, there were piles of books and she could read them very fast.

One of her other favorite places was the family cabin in Island Park. She had many fond memories of staying there with her family and exploring Yellowstone. As a child, she was proud to be a Jr. Ranger and learn everything she could when visiting. This beloved cabin was her first real estate sale and a bittersweet goodbye. She was always up for a new adventure or experience, be it snowboarding, ice skating, mountain biking, hiking, or trying exotic foods. She often played board games and cards with her family and friends. She also enjoyed building Legos and working on challenging puzzles.

Emily will always be remembered for the pure love and kindness she showed others. She was a humble, gentle soul and sensitive to others feelings. She truly loved and accepted people just as they were and went out of her way to help when she saw a need. A quiet observer, she didn’t draw attention to herself, but she always had a warm smile that could brighten your day. Her love for others was so genuine and pure. Her life was a precious gift to all who knew her.

She had a long, courageous battle with depression. She fought it with all the strength she had. But the pain in staying was greater than the pain of leaving. The world needs more beautiful souls like Emily’s. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, Brad and Jana Landon of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her grandmother, Jeanine Landon of Osgood; her brother, Caleb (Yukari) Stucki of Okinawa, Japan; her sister, Jennifer (Abram) Campbell, of Idaho Falls; and her nieces, Daydree, Colette and Hailee Campbell; and nephews, Dillon Campbell, Lucas and Noah Stucki.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, John H. Putnam, and Wayne S. Landon; and her grandmother, Lova Stoddard Jensen, all from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Osgood Ward, 7940 North 35th West. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
