Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Farrell Ray Hunt, 87, of Roberts, Idaho, passed away August 5, 2024 at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls, with family by his side.

Farrell was born July 26, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Vernal Hunt and Mildred Jane (Oakey) Hunt. He graduated from Roberts High School in 1955, where he was known for his athleticism and lettered in baseball, basketball, football, and track. He married his sweetheart, Eva Arlene Albertson, on February 21, 1955, in Dingle, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on February 25, 1956.

Farrell learned the importance of hard work, honesty, and service while working on the family farm throughout his childhood. In his youth, he enjoyed working for his grandfather at Ray Hunt’s Service Station, which later inspired him to open his own grocery store, Farrell’s IGA in Roberts. Accepting an entry level position as a mail clerk at the Idaho National Laboratory was the stepping stone to his successful career. His strong work ethic, initiative, and charismatic personality helped him to eventually work his way up into a Health Physicist Field Office Supervisor position, where he supervised Chief Technicians. He retired from the INL in 1994, after thirty-six years of service.

Nothing made Farrell prouder in life than his family. He never questioned his love or loyalty to them. He enjoyed raising his daughter and three sons alongside his wife in the country outside of Roberts. He cherished the tradition of gathering as a family to celebrate Christmas and delighted in being fussed over as a grandpa. He was passionate about the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, camping, and golfing. He especially took pleasure in visiting Dagger Falls, where he could watch the Salmon try to swim up the river and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding mountains. His family and close friends will never forget his witty sense of humor, his charitable heart, his love for western shows and country music, and his backyard barbecues.

Farrell is survived by his daughter, Raelene Hunt (Barry Burke) of Idaho Falls; son, Rodney Hunt of Roy, Utah; son, Farren Hunt (Melissa) of Blackfoot; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; siblings; wife, Eva Arlene Hunt; son, Bruce Hunt; daughter-in-law, Tami Hunt; son-in-law, Reuben Barzee.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Life Care Center of Idaho Falls for their tender loving care for our dad and grandpa, as well as all of those who have sent their love, support, and prayers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 663 N. 2858 E. in Roberts, Idaho. The family will visit with friends an hour before the funeral service.

Burial will be in Roberts-Market Lake Cemetery.
