G.L. “Chip” Snowden

Gayle Loren “Chip” Snowden, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 22, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Chip was born January 16, 1948, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Eldro Dean Snowden and Lula Hartle Snowden. He grew up and attended schools in California and graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California. He also attended BYU where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. He earned his Doctorate Degree from California Coast University. Chip served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas.

On December 30, 1969, he married Deborah Jean Levesque in the Oakland Temple. She passed away in 1978.

On August 16, 1978, he married Marcia Jean Hart in the Idaho Falls Temple. Chip and Marcia made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Chip worked as a therapist.

He loved spending time with his family, watching BYU sports, and camping in Island Park. He always enjoyed a good pun.

Chip is survived by his wife, Marcia Snowden of Idaho Falls, ID; daughters, Renae Michelle Suarez of West Jordan, UT, Miesha (Kevin) Beck of Idaho Falls, ID, Kathryn (Travis) Christensen of Goshen, ID, and Kristina Snowden of Ammon, ID; sons, Michael (Emily) Snowden of Ammon, ID, and David (Misty) Snowden of San Antonio, TX; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deborah; and brothers, Donald Snowden, and David Snowden.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Idaho Falls Park Taylor Ward, 1291 West 6500 South, with Bishop Brian Atkins officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bingham County Veterans Memorial Team and the Air Force Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
