Gary Blaine Boyce, 65 passed away, peacefully at his home in Menan, Idaho on Thursday December 19th 2024.

Gary was born September 13th 1959 in Madison Memorial Hospital to Dean Boyce and Carol (Fillmore) Boyce. Gary was the 3rd of 6 children. He attended schools at Midway Elementary, Roberts Jr High, Midway Jr High and Rigby High School. He was active in FFA, debate, student council and he played the drums in pep band and orchestra. He earned his Eagle Scout award and attended the national scout jamboree in Farragut, Idaho.

He liked to try new adventures, enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, horseback riding swimming, and playing sports. He was part of the Menan Mafia, church baseball and basketball teams. Gary was always full of energy and seemed to get in more than his share of accidents, including several nearly fatal accidents that caused aches and pains that plagued him for the remainder of his life.

He served a full-time LDS mission in Buenos Aires Argentina, South and served as Assistant to the President. He always spoke of his mission fondly and was proud of his service. He taught at the Provo MTC and served as Elder’s Quorum President. He had deep feelings for the Lord, but held them pretty close to the vest. His Menan ward did their best to include him and called him to be the Gospel Doctrine teacher. He was a powerful and persuasive speaker and teacher and had the ability to influence others.

He attended BYU Utah, where he was voted “Campus Casanova”. He was briefly married to Jackie Padovich. He did not remarry. He has one child Jerick D. Kondel-Boyce who has been the light of his life. He was blessed to be able to settle down on the Boyce farm, where he was content. He spent every day going to the Menan co-op to get his daily dose of the news and to fill his cup, afterwards, he spent each of his days on his property looking out over the marsh and visiting with whoever stopped by.

He worked as a model and a fry cook in college, he was often employed driving during the harvest. He was a salesman throughout his life in several areas, including retail as well as direct sales, and in car sales for Erickson Pontiac GMC in Rexburg, where he excelled and was able to use his Spanish to serve customers. He later transported portable nuclear devices.

He was a free spirit and wanted to do things his own way. He liked the simple life, but could also enjoy the finer things and didn’t mind getting dressed up for a special occasion. He was very artistic and appreciated the beauty of the world. He was often writing down an original poem that could be written as a song, or doing other artwork. He was kind to animals and always a farmer at heart and especially loved to drive the equipment. He enjoyed being outdoors and he loved playing guitar and singing. He also loved to tell elaborate and entertaining stories, a few of which were even true. He really relished a good book, he had many novels, all of which he had read.

He is survived by his son, son Jerick D. Kondel-Boyce, Lehi, UT; his brothers David Dean Boyce (Cayla) of Grant ID; Tyler Daran Boyce of Menan ID; Laren Reed Boyce (MacKenzie) of Lindon,UT and one sister SherRee Boyce Jack (Rodney) of Ucon, ID.
