Gary Grant Johnson, 63, former resident of Idaho Falls, passed away on September 27th, 2024, in Hospice in Phoenix Arizona, of pancreatic and liver cancer. Sister Angie and her husband Mike were by his side, and hospice out of Phoenix was amazing during his final two weeks.

Gary is the oldest son, born to Grant and Evelyn Johnson, on May 15th, 1961, in Logan Utah. Gary grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1979. He loved his time with his five siblings, his family, relatives, friends, and coworkers. We all loved his quick wit and sense of humor.

Gary worked various positions in the food industry in the 1980s. He held several positions at Marie Callender’s, a fun hopping restaurant, and brought home the most delicious pies! Later he was a night auditor at the West Bank hotel in Idaho Falls. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1993. There, he worked various auditing and accounting positions at the Embassy Suites and Rodeway Inn Hotels, and most recently, with Ascent Lifting, Phoenix Arizona.

Arizona brought clearer air for his allergies, lots of hiking and lemons to pick! He enjoyed all that, and the warm sun. Gary was a beautiful pianist and artist, and had a passion and strength for home remodeling and doing. He also made some gorgeous quilts. When younger, Gary worked several Summers on the Roger Johnson Farm, in Montana, and moved pipe with his siblings, as a youth, in the Osgood area.

Gary is survived by his father Grant I. Johnson, Brothers Ken(Deanne) Johnson, Ron Johnson, and sisters Angie (Mike) Roach, Kathy Johnson, and Janette (Jason) Halter.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Shaw Johnson.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Drop some change in the Holiday donation bucket, this upcoming season, in his memory. He will love that!
