Gloria Deann Eddie Brown of Rigby, Idaho passed away December 6, 2023 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born January 7, 1942, in Rigby, Idaho, to Lloyd and Berniece Eddie. She was the oldest of five children. Gloria grew up in the Clark area and attended elementary school there and graduated from Rigby High School in 1955. Gloria started dating Ken Brown during her junior year of High School. They went on their first date to her father’s work Christmas Party.

Gloria’s first job was working at Heise Hot Springs, which later became a family gathering place. After graduating from Rigby High School, she attended Ricks College majoring in Physical Education. Shortly after Ken returned from his mission, they were married on August 25, 1961 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Logan, Utah so Ken could attend Utah State University. Gloria worked several jobs to support them. When they graduated from college they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where they lived for a handful of years.

They moved to Idaho Falls to be close to family. Gloria loved her weekly shopping trips and soda gatherings with her mom and sisters. While living in Idaho Falls, they made many lifelong friends. Gloria loved being a homemaker. Ken and Gloria moved back to Rigby, Idaho to build their forever home. Gloria painted the entire house by herself.

Gloria was a gifted seamstress. She loved to make her daughters dresses, hemmed and repaired suits for missionaries, and made Raggedy Ann dolls for her granddaughters. Gloria took a quilting class and was hooked. She made wedding quilts for her children and grandchildren. Gloria made hundreds of receiving blankets and embroidered dish towels.

Gloria loved to travel with Ken and some of their good friends. They traveled throughout the United States. Some of her favorite places to visit were Washington D.C., Hawaii, and Disney World. Gloria enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. She enjoyed participating in the Rigby Study Club.

Gloria was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings during her life, including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Sunday School teacher and Ward Librarian.

Gloria dearly loved each member of her family and is survived by her four children, Shauna Griffiths (Bart) of Logan, Utah; Deann Hall (Klair) of Idaho Falls; Blake Brown (Trudy) of Smithfield, Utah; Janalee Black (Ryan) of Gillette, Wyoming; 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Keneth Lee Brown, her parents Lloyd and Berniece Eddie, and her stepfather Gerald Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Blackstone Ward building 198 N. 4300 E. Rigby, Idaho. Family and friends are invited to attend viewings held on Sunday, December 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby and December 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Blackstone Ward building, preceding the funeral.

Interment will take place immediately following the services at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho.
