Indiana Scott Hanes, 23, of Rexburg, passed away March 24, 2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following an explosion and fire at his home.

Indiana was born October 3, 1997, in La Habra, California, and was adopted at birth by Jerry Scott Hanes and Lisa Ann Durham Hanes. He lived in San Diego until he was two years old when they moved to Calimesa, California where he grew up. He attended Yucaipa High School for three years and graduated from Mojave River Academy in December 2015. He also attended BYU–Idaho University.

He met Stephaney Halseth in October 2018. They had a son in October 2019, and were married February 14, 2020. Their daughter was born October 2020. Indiana and Stephaney lived in Idaho Falls and Rexburg, Idaho, where Indiana worked in the home health industry.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed playing and refereeing football. He sang with choirs in middle school, high school and at the University of Redlands. He enjoyed being in scouts since age 8 and became an Eagle Scout at age 15.

Indiana is survived by his wife Stephaney Halseth of Idaho Falls; children Ezra and Twila; parents, Lisa and Scott Hanes of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Cheyenne Hanes of Idaho Falls.

He was preceded in death by his grandma, Karan Hanes, great-grandma Marva England Willis, Uncle & Aunt, Bryce and Alice Hanes.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Ucon church building, 10854 North 41st East, with Bishop Russ Donahoo officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12 Noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Services will be broadcast by the church via YouTube. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
