Jack Grover Scott, 92, of Ammon, passed away August 8, 2024, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Enhabit Hospice.

Jack was born July 13, 1932, in Rigby, Idaho, to Cecil Clair Scott and Vetta Grover. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Ricks College on a boxing scholarship, Utah State University, and received his Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry from University of Idaho.

On August 1, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart Peggy Johnson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jack and Peggy made their home in Lincoln, Idaho, where Jack worked as an analytical chemist for the Idaho National Laboratory. After retirement, Jack and Peggy relocated to Ammon, Idaho.

Jack was an Eagle Scout and involved in the scouting program for many years. He was involved in many professional organizations and served as the Science Counselor to the Congressional Representative from the 2nd District.

Jack served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Bishop, High Counselor, Temple Ordinance worker and Stake Patriarch.

Jack is survived by his son, Dennis Scott of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jerry (Danette) Scott of St. George, UT; daughter, Jane (Ron) Reynolds of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bill (Shelley) Scott of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Kevin (Denise) Scott of Mapleton, UT; and daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Barnard of Idaho Falls, ID. Jack and Peggy have 22 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Scott; son, Jeffrey Dee Scott; grandson, Porter Barnard; and great-grandson, Sabino Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Ammon North Stake Center, 4363 East 17th Street, with Bishop Brian Turville officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery.
