They were fifteen and thirteen years older than he. He always said he was their built-in baby doll. He grew up in the Jeanette and Irwin area in Pennsylvania. He loved horses and his dogs. Jake attended schools in the Irwin area, graduating from Hempfield High in 1967. He enlisted in the Navy that same year. He served during the Viet Nam war as a Navy Seal. He married Cyndy Ann Morgan in April of 1997 after meeting as assigned dance partners in a country dance class at Roper’s Dance Club in Idaho Falls. They spent many hours on the dance floor with friends. It was a great disappointment when he and Cyndy could no longer dance.

His hobbies included anything outdoors. He loved hunting, tying flies and fly fishing. Working with the Idaho Fish and Game as a reservist, and camping.
