James Boyd Owens
October 27th, 1948 - January 2nd, 2025
James Boyd Owens, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on 1/2/2025, at the age of 76. A man of humility, integrity, compassion, and humor, Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on 10/27/1948, in Blackfoot, ID, Jim was the son of John Lincoln Owens and Elva Larsen Owens. He spent his early years in Blackfoot ID, where he met and fell in love with his beloved Joyce. Whom he loved with great vigor and ferocity throughout his life.
Jim’s career was marked by service to the faith he held dear, through his work in facility maintenance for the LDS church. He was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. Jim was also an accomplished upholstery craftsman.
Jim’s greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; his children, Scott, Jonathan, Matthew, Aaron, Simeon, and Analise Dawsey; his many grandchildren; and his sister, Adel Jensen. He was predeceased by his father and mother John Lincoln Owens and Elva Larsen Owens; his brothers, John Leland Owens, Dennis Pat Owens, Richard L. Owens, and Perry Gene Owens.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on 1/11/2025 at 724 N Pittsburgh St, Kennewick WA 99336, viewing at 11:00 am and funeral service at 12:00 pm, followed by a graveside dedication at 1401 S Union St, Kennewick, WA 99338, where family and friends will gather to remember his legacy.
Jim’s impact on the lives of those around him was immeasurable. He lived with a profound sense of kindness. Jim was an extraordinarily quite man, but when he spoke, people listened. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him. Rest in peace, Jim. You will forever be in our hearts.
