James “Jim” Allen Ker
January 15th, 1952 - April 6th, 2025
James “Jim” Allen Ker, 73, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2025, at the Teton View Transitional Care Center.
Jim was born on January 15, 1952, in Rigby, Idaho, to Robert Norton and Lucille Chapple Ker of Ririe, Idaho.
Jim grew up in the Rigby-Ririe area where he attended elementary school in Rigby and graduated from Ririe High School in 1970 where he enjoyed the wrestling program. Growing up on a dairy farm, Jim grew up learning the value of hard work and doing a job right. He was always in demand around the area and grew to be proficient operating equipment, driving truck, and all other tasks given to him by local farmers and ranchers.
On march 22, 1986, he married the love of his life, Gaylene Ransom in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they raised one daughter, Sasha. They were together for 39 wonderful years. They lived in Ririe, St. Anthony, and Shelley, while Jim worked farming, driving truck and running equipment. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and took any calling that they would ask of him. Jim loved helping others, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with family. Especially his grandkids.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Sasha (Christipher) Worrel, brothers Steven (Jeanie) Ker, Walter (Kathy) Ker, Darrel (Gina) Ker, Blaine (Janie) Ker, David (Karen) Ker, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is proceeded in death by his wife, Gaylene Ker, his parents Norton and Lucille, and older brother Dennis Ralph Ker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. The Family will visit with friends prior to the service from 11:30 to 12:50 p.m. Burial will follow services in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
