Janaye Larsen Berthelson, a beloved member of the Island Park community, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 29th,2024.

She was born on July 8th, 1958, in Idaho Falls, ID, and spent her early years there, attending Idaho Falls High School and Ricks College. Her career included roles at the Bonneville County DMV and as an Office Manager for various medical practices.

In 1980, Janaye met Shawn Berthelson, the love of her life, and they were married the following year. Together, they raised their children in Idaho Falls, where they enjoyed many family activities, including BMX directing, fishing, snowmobiling, and being outdoors. Their shared dream of making Island Park their permanent home came true, and they cherished their time in the community.

Janaye was known for her joyous gatherings with her sisters or “Sister Wives,” often spotted singing “We are Family” on the trails. You would often find Janaye working, dancing or “Woo Hoo’In” at Lakeside Lodge. She was a staple in the Lakeside Family and beloved by all who met her.

Janaye is preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Jay Larsen. She is survived by her loving husband Shawn, children Melissa (Chaz Bernson), Nicholas, and Talor (Brandy), and grandchildren Malaiyah, Tiernynn, Dreyson, and Trysta. Her siblings, Jay Larsen (Karen), Vicki Peterson, Lana Kirkham (Jan), Karen Dobson (Bruce) and Kay Larsen, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who also survive her.
