Janelle Staige Fetzer
December 30th, 1977 - May 15th, 2023
Janelle Staige Fetzer, 45, of Soda Springs Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home on May 15, 2023, due to complications from colon cancer, holding the hand of her beloved Husband, Roy Fetzer and surrounded by loving family.
Janelle was born December 30, 1977, to Jon and Teri Blackwelder in Winter Park, Florida. In her childhood, Janelle was an adorable, energetic big sister in a large family, the second of seven children. Janelle became an accomplished dancer early in life and continued to excel in club and Apopka High School dance teams. Dancing has always been her favorite activity. Ballet was her passion, she performed it for 17 years. She attended the University of Florida where she studied Architecture and Accounting. She was a lifelong Gator fan and loved to watch her alma mater compete at college football. Janelle owned a bakery in Gainesville Florida named Cake Classics. She was very talented at designing and creating beautiful cakes. She never missed an opportunity to bake one of these masterpieces, for her many nieces and nephews on their birthdays. Her most recent career was as a Banker at US Bank in Soda Springs, Idaho. It was at the Bank that she met the love of her life, Roy, almost 8 years ago when he applied for a mortgage at her desk.
Roy and Janelle were married in the Orlando Florida LDS Temple October 29th, 2016. Janelle was Roy’s rock, as He was Hers. Her personality perfectly complemented Roy’s. They lived together in Soda Springs Idaho where they welcomed their daughter Madeleine into their home Dec 27th, 2017. Being married to Roy, and becoming a mother to Madeleine, was the fulfilment of Janelle’s lifelong desire. It was in these roles that she found her true calling in life. She loved her family very much and excelled at being a wife and mother.
Janelle will be greatly missed by her husband Roy, and daughter Madeleine. She is also grieved by her parents Teri and Jon, her sisters, Joni Hansen, Mallory Gooch, her brothers Neil, Christian, Ethan and Morgan Blackwelder, and their families. Also, Roy’s children, Colton, Katy and Tyler.
Janelle had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She was an intelligent and quiet person, but also very witty and fun! She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She loved traveling the world, was fluent in French and spent a summer abroad in Paris during High School. Janelle was a valiant believer in the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She never doubted and had a beautiful testimony. She was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits defined Janelle. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges. At the age of 43, Janelle was diagnosed terminal colon cancer.
Janelle was a strong fighter. She has now returned to her Heavenly Father. We know that she is free from pain. She is watching over her loved ones and preparing the way for each of them to join her in Eternity.
“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.”
