Janet Marie Hurzeler

Janet Marie Hurzeler, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away on April 6, 2025, with her family by her side. She was under the care of Symbii Hospice.

Janet was born June 22, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arlo James Moss and Ellen Marie Moss. She grew up and attended school in Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School.

On February 15, 1956, she married Stephen Albert Hurzeler in The Idaho Falls Temple. Janet and Stephen made their home in Idaho Falls where Janet was a Bus Driver for School District 91 for over 20 years.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved being with her family most of all. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, playing pinochle and hand and foot. Janet had a true passion for crocheting, countless people benefitted from her amazing skills with a crochet hook. She taught so many others how to crochet, even the lefties. She has left a giant hole in our hearts that will not be filled until we meet again. She will be greatly missed.

Janet is survived by her husband, Stephen Albert Hurzeler of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Patty (Paul) Phillipp of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Steve (Cindy) Hurzeler, of Iona, ID; son, Glen Hurzeler of Idaho Falls; daughter, Denise (Jerry) Clark of Ririe, ID; daughter, Cheryl (Tim) Smoley; son, Robert (Kathi) Hurzeler of Albany, OR; daughter, Susan (Blain) Clements of Grace, ID; sister, Patty (Norman) Landon; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlo and Ellen Moss; son, Baby James Hurzeler; sister, Joann Wilding; brother, Dick Moss; and brother, Jim Moss.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Idaho Falls 2nd Ward Chapel, 885 South Boulevard, with Bishop Hansen officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m., both visitations will be at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
