Janet Huber Rasmussen passed peacefully from this life on October 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born on July 2, 1937 in Burley, Idaho. She was the oldest child of Eldon ‘Ned’ and Ruby Huber.

Growing up, Janet worked alongside her family on the dairy farm, and enjoyed baking, and canning with her mother. She exemplified an incredible work ethic throughout her life.

Janet married Glade Whiting on June 8, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had 4 children: Karla, Lori, Michele, and Bart Whiting. They later divorced, and Janet married Evan Rasumussen on November 17, 1983 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple adding 6 step-daughters to her family; Tonda, Carla, Audra, Janna, Gayla, and Dawna.

Janet was an avid reader and had a passion for gardening. Her home in Meridian was well known for its brightly painted trim and beautiful roses. She was a dedicated shopper, a trait she passed down to her daughters and grand-daughters, and every trip to Grandma Rasmussen’s house included a shopping day.

Throughout her life Janet devoted herself to serving others. Some of her most treasured memories were serving as a Young Women’s President and Activity Days Leader. Later in their marriage, she and Evan enjoyed volunteering as temple ordinance workers.

Janet will be remembered for her resilience, spunky spirit, and the impact she made on those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Janet is survived by her husband Evan Rasmussen of Idaho Falls, ID her children Karla (Lyle) Nef of Rupert, ID, Lori (Doug) Farnsworth of Rigby, ID, Michele (Eric) Edgley of Kaysville, UT, Bart (Shelley) Whiting of Boise, ID, Tonda (Clarence) Cody of Chubbuck, ID, Carla Larsen of Ogden, UT, Audra (David) Swenson of Chubbuck, ID, Janna Turner of West Yellowstone, MT, Gayla (Andy) Leibenguth of Missoula, MT, and Dawna (Joe) Burkett of South Jordan, UT, and her 22 adoring grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings, Georgianna Graham, Gayla White and Rodney (Loralyn) Huber.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon ‘Ned’ and Ruby Huber and her brothers-in-law Gaylen Graham and Bryan White.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to MorningStar Senior Living, Aspen Home Health and Hospice, and the dedicated nurses and staff who have become cherished friends during this journey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, located at 101 W Main Street in Rigby, Idaho. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Thatcher Cemetery in Thatcher, Idaho.
