Obituary
Josh Schofield
February 25th, 1974 - September 13th, 2022
With deepest sorrow, we announce that Joshua Schofield (Josh), age 48, our most beloved father, son, brother, family member, and friend, passed suddenly on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, while he sat peacefully on his patio he called “Schofield’s Cove”. Those who knew Josh, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. Josh will be missed every day by his family and friends. We know Josh is now with Quay and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven. We LOVE and MISS you so much. XOXO.
Josh was born February 25, 1974, in Pocatello, Idaho, to the delight of his parents, Jack and Kathy Schofield. Josh grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1992.
The first thing you noticed about Josh were his green eyes. When he was talking with you, it felt as if you were the only person in the room. When you had a conversation with Josh, he listened and heard you.
Josh always had a smile and kind and thoughtful greeting for everyone he met: the cashier at the gas station, the person at the drive through–he always left them with a comment to brighten their day and let them know he appreciated what they had done for him. He never met a stranger.
Josh welcomed all into his Tribe and with his loving spirit was always willing to help in any way he could.
Josh’s family was his world. He loved them unconditionally and with each goodbye, told them two things you always need to remember: “I love you and I’m proud of you.” Josh was the “glue” that held us all together with his spirit of unconditional love, kindness, patience, and wisdom.
Anyone who had the opportunity to know him, loved him because of his kind acceptance and quiet wisdom he only offered when asked.
Josh wanted to make everyone he met throughout the day feel special and important whether he knew them or not because he truly believed and lived the “ripple effect.”
Josh had a passion for music and his ear buds were a permanent accessory. He shared his Spotify Playlist with his kids, trading songs and adding to their playlists. Time alone with one of the kids for Josh mostly happened when he was driving one of the kids to school, to meet a friend, to go shopping, or to go on an occasional road trip. He took every opportunity to create memories and share his hopes and dreams for each one of them.
A Dad isn’t defined as the man who makes the child, but rather the man who extends his hands and time to help with the child’s raising and his heart to love the child through anything! BLOOD doesn’t always make you a Dad. Being a Dad comes from the heart.
Josh has shown us all by example that it is possible to work your way out of the darkness and into the light. This past year, he had begun the journey of moving forward, with grace and courage. Josh was also passionate about supporting the Brick House Treatment Center. The Brick House folks have continued to give the Schofield Family love and unending support since losing our Quay. Quay and the rest of his family and Tribe love him and are so proud of the accomplishments he has made.
Josh is loved beyond measure by his family and his Tribe. His reach and “ripple effect” is still being realized. As a family and Tribe, we will strive to be more like Josh. I know he loves us all and will be in our hearts forever.
Joshua is survived by his father, Jack E. (Krickett) Schofield; mother, Kathy Schofield; brother, Jacob E. Schofield; sister, Melinda (Lucas) Kaserman; daughter, Allyson; son, Tiernan; daughter, Nalani; daughter, Ciara Calvin; son, Payton (Kelsey) Calvin; granddaughter, Lahna Loraine Calvin; daughter, Natalie Fisher; son, Seth Mason; daughter, Hannah Mason; stepsister, Amanda (Darin) Jordan; stepbrothers, Spencer Lott, Christopher (Brandy) Lott, Taylor (Kate) Lott, Brennan (Bobbi) Lott, Cameron (Heidi) Lott; stepsister, Katelyn (Jeremy) Ramirez; and Melanie Mason, best friend and partner in crime; nephews, Keian (Assia) Kaserman, Midian Schofield, Ares Schofield, Ryker Kaserman; and niece, Ariah Kaserman.
