Julie Marie Briggs of Salt Lake City, UT passed away peacefully August 22, 2024 surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Pocatello, ID. Julie was born in Idaho Falls, ID on July 12, 1951 to Harvey Dale Schneiter and Edna Mae Morgan. She was the oldest of 5 girls born to the couple. Julie had a happy childhood in Idaho Falls. After graduating high school from Skyline High School, Julie went on to study business at Ricks College. While at Ricks, she participated in the college choir.

Julie’s younger sister, Janeil, introduced her to Michael Butikofer whom she later married on May 25, 1974. Julie and Michael had 5 children, Michael Dale II, Jessie, Danitra, McKala, and Tyler. Becoming a mother, loving, and raising her children was the greatest achievement of her life. The family spent time in Nevada and the Idaho Falls area. Though Michael and Julie’s paths eventually diverged, Julie continued to work and reside in Idaho Falls. Julie met Bill Briggs who was a fellow resident in the apartments where she lived. They became friends and that friendship blossomed in to love. Bill and Julie married October 30, 1999 in front of family and friends. Shortly after marrying, the couple moved to Utah. They loved and supported each other until Bill’s passing.

Julie was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was a key component of her life. Julie enjoyed singing, crocheting, ceramics, and painting. She was often found cooking, canning, and baking for those she loved. Julie was a gentle soul who was kind and caring. Her husband, children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She was dedicated to building and maintaining those relationships.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Edna Schneiter; her sisters, Janeil Butikofer and Jeanie Loveridge; and her daughter, McKala Marie Butikofer. She is survived by her sisters, Michelle (Jim) Heiselmann of Idaho Falls, ID and Sheila (Dean) Thompson of Missoula, MT; her children, Michael Dale Butikofer II of Juneau, AK; Jessie (Susannah) Butikofer of Rigby, ID; Danitra Blevin of Pocatello, ID; and Tyler (Amy) Butikofer of Grace, ID; and 14 grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Sandstone Canyon Rim for their excellent care over the years and OneSource Hospice.
