Karen Alice Yearsley Morton, 90, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Rexburg, Idaho on September 17, 2024 surrounded by family.

She was born to Glen Blaisdell Yearsley and Alice Rose Williams on August 30, 1934 in Roberts, Idaho. She was the second of 4 children: brother Billy Kyle Yearsley, sisters Dawna Rae Magelby and Shana Sue Russell. She loved to ride horses beginning as a tiny girl and continued into her 70’s. She worked and played with her family. Her beautiful blue eyes and

sweet smile affected everyone.

Karen attended schools in Roberts, Idaho. She was royalty at many a dance, a cheerleader and a badminton champion to name a few of her accomplishments..

Karen married Jimmie J (Curley) Morton on September 25, 1953 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they raised 6 children: Shane J Morton – deceased, Hadley K Morton, Derk G (Tina) Morton, Rita Morton all of Rexburg, Brooke (Kent) Jeppesen of Chester, and Skipper T (Megan) Morton of Roberts, Idaho. They raised their children on a ranch and she surrounded her family with love, work, food and rodeo. Which included traveling many miles to make sure the boys performed. She cooked and fed more people than can ever be counted. You could never come into her home without being fed. She never met a stranger – everyone became a friend.

She was an artist, an excellent cook, and loved to crochet. She loved to give gifts year round and always prepared for Christmas a year before the holiday came. She quietly made over 100 afghans and gave them away to others. She was resilient – taking whatever came her way and somehow made things better. She was a ray of sunshine and was cheerful during hard times. She left a legacy of hard work and Christ-like love and service, often taking meals to those who were alone.

Her family and friends adore her and will miss her love and hugs and bubbly personality.

Services will be held with viewings on Sunday from 5:30-7:00 pm and Monday prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 am both times at the St. Anthony Stake Center, 247 E 4th N. The funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 am at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
