Kathleen L. Peterson of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away from natural causes on Nov. 1, 2024, at the age of 94. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Preston, Idaho, the second child of George Gilbert and Vera Steele Stanger Larsen. The family soon moved to Idaho Falls and then to Rexburg, Idaho. She attended Rexburg schools, graduating from Madison High School in 1948. She enrolled at Ricks College in the fall of 1948 and transferred to Brigham Young University in the fall of 1950, graduating with high honors earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1952. Kathleen married Keith Lester Peterson on Oct. 30, 1953, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Kathleen and Keith moved to Rexburg in 1953 and began their lifelong careers in the retail clothing business. The Deb ’n Heir Children’s Shop became her pride and joy. She retired from the clothing business in 1992 and enjoyed her time as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Rexburg Civic Club, and working as a volunteer at Madison Memorial Hospital.

Service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was central to Kathleen’s life. She served in the Primary and Relief Society organizations as well as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg LDS Temples.

Kathleen was a loving mother and grandmother. She supported her children and grandchildren in all their pursuits. She is survived by her three children, Deborah P. Olsen (Kenneth Olsen) of Sandy, Ut, Jeffrey Keith (Amy Faye Ashby) of Rigby, Id, Marci Kathleen Cook (Brett A. Cook) of Rexburg, Id and Jeffrey G. Mather of St. George, Ut, son-in-law. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Keith L. Peterson, her daughter Kristina Ann Peterson Mather, her parents and brother, Keith G. Larsen.

Funeral services will be held on Nov. 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Rexburg Fourth Ward Chapel (166 S. 1st E.). The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM on the day of the service. Interment at the Rexburg Cemetery.

Kathleen’s family is grateful to all those who assisted in her care.
