Kelton Jake Hickman, 15, beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend left this earthly life far too soon due to a farming/traffic accident. He left doing what he loved, chasing a good time and farming.

Kelton was born on his own time on October 29, 2008, in Rexburg to Jake and Amanda Hickman and his not-so-much older sister, Kayda. Three years later he was joined by his favorite tag-along, Jaylie.

Kelton was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kelton had a strong testimony of our Savior and always loved attending the temple with family, friends, or anyone who wanted to go. Kelt loved to bless the sacrament as often as he could.

Kelton continued to do everything on his own time. As he would say, “If you know, you know.” He loved to make his mom and sisters laugh by either scaring them, saying outlandish things, and sending Instagram reels and appropriately placed GIFs. He started following his dad as soon as he could walk and always jumped at the chance to go with his dad, affectionately known as Big Jim. He was his mom’s most fierce protector.

Kelt loved his family and his friends. He first loved his vast collection of toy tractors and semis and soon the real ones. He loved his pedal bike and soon after his dirt bikes, his horse Jessie, his cat and really all animals, except maybe adult sheep and goats. He loved his truck.

He was a very talented rifle shot and attended National Finals Rodeo this July in light rifle. He was also gifted with machinery and was the world’s best backwards driver.

Kelton’s Instagram tagline is “Be the hog everyone tells you you can’t be.”

Kelton was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Golden and Lois Peterson, Lyn and Sharon Walker, and Jay and Bonnie Chappel.

Kelton is survived by his parents Jake and Amanda Hickman, sisters JaKayda and Jaylie Hickman; his grandparents Steve and Cindy Hickman and Kevin and Sue Walker, and great-grandparents Clarence and Karen Hickman. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins– the Whittier, Harris, Conover, Johnson, and Hemingway families.

Funeral services will be Tuesday October 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints LaBelle 4th Ward Chapel 4223 E. 528 N., Rigby, ID 83442. The family will visit with friends at the church Monday, October 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 8, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
