Larry Franklin
May 3rd, 1948 - March 27th, 2025
Larry Wayne Franklin, 76, of Rigby, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Larry was born on May 3, 1948, to Robert Eugene Franklin and Helen Jewel Eckles Franklin in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He grew up in Natchez, Mississippi. He received his GED in 1975 while living in Alaska.
In January 1965, he joined the Army National Guard. Later, in August of that same year, he joined the United States Air Force. He was awarded numerous medals for his service. He retired from service as a Tech Sergeant in July 1985.
On June 26, 1990, he married Janine Cobbley in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He was previously married from 1969 to 1985, and from this union, two sons, Robert and Richard, were born.
Larry served in the Air Force for over 20 years and was stationed in Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri, New Mexico, and Korea. After being discharged from the Air Force, he worked at Walmart for 13 years and was a long-haul truck driver for 19 years. He was Southern Baptist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on transmissions.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janine Franklin of Rigby, Idaho; his sons: Robert (Christine) of Amarillo, Texas, and Richard Franklin of Plainview, Texas; his daughter, Samantha Graves of Pocatello, Idaho; 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot. A visitation will be held from 11-12:00 noon, prior to services at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent online to www.coltrinmortuary.com.
