Lloyd “Jay” Beasley

Lloyd Jay Beasley was born on January 10, 1931, in the Idaho Falls Hospital, and passed away February 2, 2025, at his home.

Jay was the only child of William Lloyd Beasley and Hortense Hazel Staker. He grew up in the Idaho Falls, Shelley, and Firth areas, and went to school in those same areas. While attending Idaho Falls High School, he became acquainted with Elma Arlean Gray, and they were married on August 10, 1948. Among the jobs Jay had were the Union Pacific Rail Road and Westinghouse at the INL site, which he retired from in 1991.

Jay’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, reading, gardening, and rock polishing. Jay volunteered in the Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen, and pruning trees for the elderly. Jay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Elders Quorum, as a Seventy, and in the High Priests Quorum. He and Arlean were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, and they raised ten children.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three grandchildren.

He is survived by Michael (Alice) Beasley of Idaho Falls, Catherine (Dave) Portrey of Grand View, ID, Yvonne (Ron) Richie of Clinton, MT, Ranon (Christine) Beasley of St. George, UT, Martha Mills of Idaho Falls, Richard Beasley of Idaho Falls, Charles (Laura) Beasley of Grant, ID, Timothy (Michelle) Beasley of Spring Creek, NV, Thomas (Celia) Beasley of Riverton, WY, William (Michelle) Beasley of Athol, ID; and 292 decedents which he loved to brag about.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Idaho Falls 11th Ward, 1235 Juniper Drive. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
