Mary Ann Baird


Mary Ann Baird, 70, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at her home in Pingree, Idaho.


Mary Ann was born March 16, 1955 in Cedar City, Utah, the daughter of Don and Corrine Jolley Applegate.


Mary Ann attended Snake River Junior High and High School, then graduated from Coeur’d’ Alene High School.  She was a member of the Pantherette drill team and was district president of Future Homemakers of America.


She continued her education at Ricks College, where she met her future husband.


On August 8, 1975, Mary Ann married Hal Gardner Baird in the Idaho Falls Temple.


Mary Ann was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving others in the many callings she had in the church especially anytime she was able to work with children.  Her greatest joy was in helping others. She was also a 4-H leader in the community, teaching girls how to cook and sew.


Mary Ann is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Hal Baird; her children, Mary Kae and Paul Ryner, Kyle and Alessandra Baird, Laura and Josh Scott, Angela and Trenton Pulsipher, Alisha and Jason Ellis and Devin Baird; sister Evalee and Ray Matheson; brothers Steven and Pauline Applegate, Don and Dianna Applegate, Derek and Bernita Applegate; 11 grandsons and 11 granddaughters.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Corrine Applegate; sisters Mickie Evans, Corrine Spencer and Karrie Lynn Vance; and brothers Chris Applegate and David Applegate.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Thomas LDS church. The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the Hawker Funeral Home and again prior to the service at the church, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
