Mary Ann (Jonak) Trubl, 95, passed away April 4, 2024. She was received into heaven with blue skies and green pastures, finding the loving arms of her beloved husband, Charles J. Trubl once again.

Mary Ann was born October 28, 1928, in Ashton, Nebraska, to Steve and Bernice Jonak. She was the second oldest daughter of four girls and one boy. As a child, she experienced her family home being destroyed, forcing the family to live in a cellar until she was four years old. Mary Ann helped run the family farm and attended Loop City High School, where she would meet the love of her life, Charles Trubl. In 1949, she married Charles in Paplin, Nebraska, when she was 20 years old. Mary Ann gave birth to three children, Kathlyn, Gerald, and Pamela in Nebraska. After the birth of their third child, Charles and Mary Ann decided to move to Idaho in 1956, where they started their own family farm.

During the years on the farm with Charles, Mary Ann accomplished many things. Some of the best examples were raising her three children and obtaining her Bachelor of Education for teaching. She additionally helped rebuild her own home, farm, and the city of Roberts, Idaho, after the Teton Dam broke.

Mary Ann would participate in many family hunting trips, camp outings, and hikes to multiple locations across Idaho and Montana. Many summers and time away were spent at their property by Conner, Montana, in the Bitterroot Mountains. The cabin she built there brought many memories for her growing family. When she was not enjoying the outdoors, she was in the classroom teaching. Although she taught many subjects and several age groups, Idaho History was her favorite. For over thirty years she shaped the educational knowledge of the youth passing through the doors of Linden Park Elementary School in Idaho Falls. Mary Ann adored all her students and was extremely devoted to them. She understood her role as a teacher would influence fundamentals in shaping the future for each student she taught and had a large impact on our community as a result.

Sadly in 1989, Mary Ann’s husband, Charles, passed. Mary Ann chose to leave her farm and move to a new home in Idaho Falls. Over the next three and half decades, she focused on her family and her special talent with a sewing machine and embroidery. Mary Ann held the unbelievable ability to create breathtaking quilts, aprons, dolls, and many other beautiful patchwork projects. She frequented several craft fairs throughout Montana and Idaho, with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was devoted to God and an active member of the Catholic Church. Regularly attending Christ the King and Holy Rosary Churches.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles J. Trubl; daughters, Kathlyn Rutledge and Pamela Wilde; brother, Robert Jonak; and sisters, Audrie Zeleski and Carol Lonowski.

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Jan) Trubl; her sister, Betty Keep; her grandchildren, Melissa Jensen, Scott Trubl, Chris Trubl, Johnny Rutledge, Jodie Rutledge, Kristina Walsh, Jamie Hart, and Mark Wilde; more than thirty great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Any who wish to offer condolence or pay respects a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1690 E. 17th Street. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m. with a visitation to follow from 7-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
