Mildred Kaye Berkheimer

Mildred Kaye (Williams) Berkheimer of Chester, Idaho passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on February 18, 2024 at the age of 88.

Mildred was born in Chester, Fremont, Idaho on January 7, 1936. She was born to Gomer Hugh Williams and Dorothy Elnora Howard. She was the fourth of nine children. She attended grade school in Chester and then graduated from South Fremont High School in St. Anthony. Not long after graduating, she moved to Arizona where she met and married Jack LeRoy Berkheimer, Sr on 18 Mar 1956 in Mesa, Arizona. She lived in Mesa and raised her four children there and in Payson, Arizona. She returned to Chester in 1980 and lived there the remainder of her life.

Mildred, called Midge by those who knew her, was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many capacities throughout her life. The service she loved most was to the children in the primary. She taught many generations of children in nursery and primary. She was a cub scout leader for many years. A long-time wish of hers was to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She concluded her legacy of service with a two-year mission, serving in the Rexburg, Idaho temple, which ended 8 months before her passing.

Mildred loved God’s creations and was happy when she could be in the garden or spending countless hours nurturing her many houseplants. She loved animals and loved having dogs, cats and birds as pets around the house. She was tolerant of many other animals brought into the home by her kids, including; alligator, monkey, ferrets, piranha, snakes and many others.

Above all else, she was happiest when she could spend time with family and treasured visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by Jack L. Berkheimer, Sr. and her children: Jack LeRoy Berkheimer, Jr. of Chester, Idaho; Mark Howard Berkheimer and his wife Denice of Gilbert, Arizona; Walter Randal Berkheimer and his wife Pamela of Chester, Idaho; and Jill (Berkheimer) Noble of Arlington, Texas. In addition, Mildred is survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are siblings: Marva Bowman (Rexburg), Mark Williams (Wilford) and Gordon Williams (Chester). She is also survived by many relatives, friends and neighbors who loved her and called her mom and her house home.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings; Wilma Bowman, Joyce Carter, Deanna Baker, Alice Richards and her infant brother Darris Williams; son-in-law Chuck Noble; and great granddaughter Lillian Lopez.

Funeral services will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ashton, Idaho; 516 North 2nd Street on Feb 26th at 11 am. A viewing will take place starting at 10 am. Interment will be at the Wilford Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
